End of the Third Grade

Katherine’s home from school, wrapping up her Third Grade experience with Mr Mayer.

The class did a cool “Third Grade Award” where the class voted on what they think of each kid. For Kitten:

Katherine Hill is …

  • Nice because she includes people and is fun to be around with her creative sense of humor.
  • A hard worker because she always tries her best in class.
  • Always ready for a challenge especially in math.

Not a bad way to be thought of at all.

In other grade stuff

  • Report card grades were strong — meeting all objectives in Reading, Writing (high scores in Organization and Conventions), Math (special scores in Number Sense), Science, Social Studie, Performing Arts and PE, and exceeding objectives in Visual Arts. Not spectacular stuff, but more than solidly good.
  • On her CSAPs (state testing), she’s at the high end of Proficient (with Advanced within the potential score range), scoring at “Proficient or Above” in all areas.
  • Scored faboo in Math on the MAP (NWEA) test — up from 86th percentile in the Fall to 94th percentile this spring, with “High” scores in all the various goals. Her Reading on the test was still good, but not quite as good — 91st Percentile, with “High” scores in most of the categories.
  • It looks like she’s being placed in an enriched 4th Grade math class for next year. She did some testing for this in the last couple of weeks. Go Kitten!

And the most important thing she wanted to know about more than her grades: Mrs. Buchanan for 4th Grade (which she’s happy to hear about).
