Yes Wii Did

We went ahead and bought a Wii tonight.

Rather, Katherine bought the Wii, funded by several months of total allowance saving (would I had her discipline), and helped with a bit of price dropping in the Wii market. She bought the unit, plus one game (Super Mario Galaxy). We pitched in with another remote set and another game (Raving Rabbids).

This is, remarkably enough, the first game console we’ve ever explicitly purchased. Now that we’ve bought it, no doubt tomorrow a new edition will be announced that is eleventy-times better, and beyond that everyone has moved onto the Nintento 128 or something.

Our Miis are all created and ready to rock. Katherine seems happy about it, which makes me smile. That’s more than worth it.

  1. Even if a new version were to be announced tomorrow it’s not like that shiny new Wii would suddenly stop working. If anything it would be a blessing as the already large library of games for the Wii would probably become very affordable in a short period of time. Certainly it would be enough to keep you busy for a couple of years until the price drops on the new model and you decide to make the plunge again. 🙂

But just in case you’re really worried, the best guess on when the next Wii will arrive is currently sometime in 2011 and that’s just a rumor.

  2. I was all ready to buy a Wii to play The Power of the Force, but I lost my job just before it was released and could no longer justify the expense. 🙁

  3. Mario Galaxies is an INCREDIBLY cool game. I strongly suggest ALL the Lego games as well. Other perennial favorites: Boom Blox, Guitar Hero, Mario Party, Super Smash Brothers, etc.

Important note: the Wii will play Game Cube games, and many of them are exceedingly cool AND wicked cheap.
