Is it too early to start with all the decade retrospectives?

Apparently not. Though we won’t belabor the “does a decade run 0-9 or 1-10” debate from ’99 again. Here’s Newsweek‘s retrospective*:

Not a bad summary, though I’m always dubious about what get picked over the last year, given the lack of perspective (and the chance that space aliens will arrive in mid-December).

What always strikes me most from early on is (a) “that was that long ago?” and (b) “that was that recently?”

*And isn’t it interesting that a significant difference from the last decade’s retrospective is that we’ll see a ton of these on YouTube? Wonder what we’ll be using in ’19 — holographic implant chips? Or charcoal on doghide …
