Links (most recent first) that caught my eye, but did not warrant full-blown blog entries ….
- Confederate History Month – That’s about the size of it. Amen.
- Christian Refuses to Sign Civility Contract… Guess Why? – The only people Jesus showed anger and animus toward were folks (the money-changers, the religious hypocrites) who perverted worship of God into self-aggrandizement and profit. To those who he deemed sinners, or who believed differently, he welcomed them to the table, engaging them with honesty but openness, trying to find common ground, to teach of God’s love for and grace toward all humanity. Would that more of Jesus’ followers could follow that model.
- In multitasking, more than two tasks do not compute – Back in the old mainframe days, we used to call that “thrashing.”
- FiveThirtyEight: Politics Done Right: Tea Party Bears Beck’s Imprint – “This is, in fact, the single biggest differentiator of any of the items that the NYT asked about: not ideology, not any particular political belief, but whom they watch on television.” And yet, both Glenn and his network disingenuously claim that Beck is just “entertainment,” not actual news.
- Consulting Isn’t About Advice – Anyone who’s ever had consultants brought in for something that they ordinarily would handle in-house will not be surprised by this. (There are, in deed, good value-add consultants who can support and enhance an operation. The majority, though, are more interested in keeping a paycheck flowing via their principals getting paid a fat contract than in actually providing a service. After all, they’ll be gone in 1-6 months, on to the next job …)
- Contractual nonsense – A contract represents a meeting of minds. Which is clearly not true in this case.
