Links (most recent first) that caught my eye, but did not warrant full-blown blog entries ….
- Frank Frazetta, RIP – Frazetta was a remarkable, even seminal artist. Ironically, I was just leafing through a book of his art at the Tattered Cover on Sunday.
- Apple Confirms AT&T Has iPhone Exclusivity Until 2012 – Looks like I made a good choice …
- Note to media: 40 of 111 Supreme Court justices had no prior judicial experience | Media Matters for America – I think judicial experience is important for a Justice, but I think other experiences are also important. I wouldn’t want a SCOTUS of all non-judges, but having one or two on there, if qualified in other areas, would probably be of value.
- 6 Absurd Gender Stereotypes (That Science Says Are True) | Cracked.com – Though, as with most gender differences, the range within each gender carries a significant overlap with the range of the other.
- Twitter Launches Embeddable Tweet Feature “Blackbird Pie” | Twitter blog and news – A nice additional feature to make Tweets more usable elsewhere. I’ll be curious to see some blog tools developed around this.
- NASA team cites new evidence that meteorites from Mars contain ancient fossils – Science at work: examining and reexamining evidence, seeking peer review, offering up new hypotheses and explanations for observed phenomena, and considering how best to validate them. Neat.
- The Plum Line – Shadowy Ark. group run out of Va. P.O. box – I’m sure the conservative majority of the Supreme Court would see nothing wrong with that.
- GOP Strategy Call: Obstruct Supreme Court Nomination to Delay Policy Debates – Because, once more, it’s all about winning — or, in this case, delaying the other side’s winning. Nice statesmenship, yo-yos.
- 05/07/2010 – TV theme songs aren’t going to make it after all – STLtoday.com – Very sad — I love TV theme songs, and miss them in the shows that don’t use them. Feh.
- The Progressive Case For Elena Kagan – Still reading various analyses of Kagan — but, bottom line, she’s the nominee we’ve got, and I don’t see a way for her to be rejected for someone more “progressive,” even if that were desirable.
- Reverse Reparations – What ever happened to, “You break it, you bought it”? Generally speaking, you only seek reparations from folks you’ve conquered; is that the new view from the Right about our stance toward Iraq? Yeah, we beat back Saddam, but it’s kind of obnoxious to free a hostage and charge him for the service.
- Confirmation vote won’t be unanimous – Money graf: “I guess Inhofe deserves credit for candor — most senators want to appear responsible and mature about a process like this one, anxious to hear more from the nominee and learn about his/her qualifications and judicial skills. Members of the world’s most deliberative body generally consider this an important part of their professional duties. Inhofe can’t be bothered. Good to know.”
- Tarantino’s trademark Trunk Shot: A Compilation.
- D&D Party, Kids’ Birthday Sub-type – This is a very cool idea.
- Behind-the-scenes look at Disneyland’s new river – Around Disney : The Orange County Register – Nice article on reworking the “Rivers of America” at Disneyland.
