Links (most recent first) that caught my eye, but did not warrant full-blown blog entries ….
- Murdoch lied – And this just in: Water is wet, the sun rose in the east today, and Francisco Franco is still dead.
- A media strategy comes into focus – Yes, climate change is “just something in the geologic eons of time.” Or something like that. Can we get that on a t-shirt?
- ‘The consequences of our inaction’ – “Every policy challenge need not be seen through a partisan lens, but this one should — America is faltering on energy because the Republican Party demands it. The U.S. is falling behind international competitors because the GOP thinks “drill, baby, drill” is a substantive idea, climate science is a Marxist plot, cap-and-trade (an idea Republicans came up with) is radical and dangerous, and a national clean energy policy is wholly unnecessary.” And 5, 10, 20 years from now, I hope they do finally take the blame for the harm they’re doing, because they seem to be acting with impunity right now.
- A provocative comparison – I so need to make sure I watch this on the DVR tonight.
- They’re Losing and They Know It: Kyle
- New Kenmore Washer/Dryers Can Talk Directly To Tech Support – Okay, that’s rather clever (and a clever, if somewhat kludgy, avoidance of having to run a phone line, or WiFi connection, to your washer and dryer). I imagine it would be more efficient if there was a “headset” port connector.
- A UK Standards Board Says Asterisking Expletives Isn’t Good Enough. : Wait Wait … Don’t Tell Me! : NPR – Actually, bravo to pointing out the silliness in the whole f**kng bowdlerization-by-asterisk. Whether you consider the printing of expletives a horror or a triviality, that sort of hypocritical “I know what you’re saying, but you’ve delicately masked the letters so I can pretend I don’t” bullsh*t is overall more harmful to society.
