Links (most recent first) that caught my eye, but did not warrant full-blown blog entries ….
- Blockbuster finally gives in, files for bankruptcy – Another nasty blow to strip malls nationwide.
- ThinkProgress finds missing page from GOP election ‘Pledge’: John Aravosis (DC)
- State warns Bay Area bars not to infuse drinks | Full Page – We will continue to infuse drinks in our household. So there, California ABC!

- Science-based medicine attacked in a surprising way – I concur that erring on the side of safety is the only sane way we can do this (I believe thalidomide looked safe early on, too) — but the FDA should certainly be making sure that these studies are acted on as promptly as possible so as to not add i any extra delays, and consider limited or highly caveated ways to make experimental but very promising therapies available to more people sooner. In a case where known treatments are unlikely to work, and there’s a cure that has been established in the short run as being a life extender, some thought ought to be given to whether folks should be able to choose their own gamble.
- Democrats Don’t Want To Act On Taxes For Fear Of Being Criticized; Republicans Criticize Anyway. Who Could Have Predicted? – I very much don’t want the Dems to take the beating I expect they will, but if they do, they have to take a lot of strategic responsibility for being to gutless to confront the GOP, to stick together as a party, and to be so fearful over people who are going to accuse them of eating babies and raising taxes regardless of what they do (and whether it’s true or not).
- September 22, 2010 : Savage Love | The A.V. Club – “You gotta give ’em hope.” This may be a very good way to do just that.
- Finding My Spam Magnets – Giving this a try. I’ve had an unusually large upsurge in spam to my blog this month. It’s pretty much all been caught, but …
- Jackie Chan.gif – The outtakes are, always, the best part.
- This Is How Much We Text Now [Texting] – Still can’t figure out the “texting during sex” thing. Unless it’s, like, during an agreed-upon pause in the action, or whilst one partner is off powdering their nose, it strikes me as just about as hazardous to your (love) life as texting whilst driving.
