Mixing up the X-Men with the Cuban Missile Crisis (1962) seems odd at first blush, but it grounds it in the team’s actual origin period (first published in 9/63), and has all sorts of cool implications to it. (And, so you don’t have to look it up, the Lockheed SR-71 went into service in 1964, after being developed from the Lockheed A-12, built between ’62 and ’64 … and all still part of the Most Awesomest Aircraft Family Ever.)
