Unblogged Bits (Mon. 13-Jun-11 1130)

Links (most recent first) that caught my eye, but did not warrant full-blown blog entries ….

  1. Johannes Mehserle, former BART officer, was released from L.A. County Jail – latimes.com – With great power comes great responsiblity. Or, alternately, early release.
  2. Names – SMBC May 25, 2011 – (Yeah, still playing catchup on comics.)
  3. strip for May / 19 / 2011 – This is why I end up staying up way too late at night …
  4. SMBC June 13, 2011 – Sadly, true.

  1. Re: Mehserle:
I actually believe his story that he was reaching for his taser and pulled his handgun instead. The bigger problem is, why do cops feel they have to taser people who have already surrendered? Mehserle isn’t the only cop who’s done/(tried to do) this. People who’ve surrendered have occasionally been killed because tasers are sometimes fatal, depending on the physical state of the victim.

What is it with cops who insist on deploying tasers no matter what?
