Links (most recent first) that caught my eye, but did not warrant full-blown blog entries ….
- Vintage Exercise Machines – Some of these look like they belong in Gitmo, others in Madame Suzanne’s House of Pleasure.
- Kids in the workplace: At least parents always knew where their children were – I would chortle, but there are folks who believe just this. At least, regarding someone else’s kids.
- Feature: A pound of flesh: how Cisco’s “unmitigated gall” derailed one man’s life – “Here we have a man who has no criminal record, who made every possible effort to comply with US immigration laws and procedures, but who dared to take on a multinational giant, rewarded with criminal charges that have been so grotesquely inflated as to make the average well-informed member of the public blanche at the audacity of it all”
- California Rural Homeowners to Pay Fire Tax – I think this makes a lot of sense — though there are rural dwellers who aren’t wealthy exurbanites.
- War is over (if they want it) – “That’s what everyone wants, right?” Yeah, right.
- Racial Confusion – By the way, based on Bob Jones III’s screed here, Fischer’s argument that “religious freedom” should allow folks to discriminate against gay couples in public accommodations would clearly also apply to interracial couples.
- Limbaugh: The Killer 116° Heat Index Is ‘Manufactured By The Government’ | ThinkProgress – Yeah, don’t worry about it, Rush — maybe you should show off by going on a jog, or playing a few rounds of tennis in that not-very-hot weather.
- Will Gay Rights Pave the Way for Decriminalizing Mormon Polygamy? | Religion Dispatches – There’s certainly a lot of similarity in the arguments, though I think it’s an even more complex subject.
