Links (most recent first) that caught my eye, but did not warrant full-blown blog entries ….
- 9 Vital Points About The Public Relevance of Political Candidates’ Religious Beliefs | Camels With Hammers – Short version: to the extent that a candidate makes his/her faith or religious beliefs a part of their campaign (“Vote for me, because I believe in Jesus!”), those beliefs become rational targets for examination and criticism. E.g, Perry and Bachmann both tout their pious conservative Christianity as informing their campaigns — which means questions about that pious conservative Christianity are absolutely fair game.
- Ku Klux Klan’s Washington Parades, 1925-26 – Things do get better. At least for a while.
- The truth about health, safety and environmental regulations : The Pump Handle – It seems to me that the GOP’s obsession with “jobs” (as in “-killing regulations” is actually much less about jobs as it is about profit impacts on keeping people safe from water, air, and land contamination.

- 10 Actual Mistakes that Syfy Has Made Over the Years [Daily 10] – I actually can’t remember the last time I watched something on Syfy … which, given my media predilections, is pretty sad.

- Florida Republicans Fight To Keep ‘Cohabitation’ Of Unmarried Couples Illegal | ThinkProgress – I don’t think pre-marital cohabitation is the bees knees, for a variety of reasons — but I don’t think the state should be insisting on making it an illegal act.

- No Nazi comparisons? Sounds like something Hitler would say! – While taking Godwin’s Law to extremes isn’t healthy or honest, I think it’s a good guideline — not so much because it’s too easy to trivialize the Nazis (though that’s of value) but because extremes (like Nazis) can distort nuanced arguments. We tend to live (fortunately) in realms of grays.

5. I have recently become addicted to Warehouse 13. If I had known it starred Saul Rubinek, I would probably have been watching since Season 1. Oh, and I have a crush on Claudia.
8. I expected to hate it, but Geoff Johns is such a good writer…
5. It’s always looked like an interesting show, but I’ve never gotten it into rotation.
8. GJ can be a good, imaginative writer — but has a tendency to go overboard sometimes in making things “his,” especially beyond the borders of a particular comic. I got really, really tired of his redoing of the whole GL mythos, as it lurched from one crisis to another. When I see his name on a project, now, I am both interested in wary.
