I think it’s a straightforward concern that Perry has too many liabilities for the general election — his church-state extremism, his dunderheaded position on science, his hypocrisy about stimulus funds, his positions on abolishing Social Security and the like. Are there concerns in some circles about sex scandals in Perry’s life (of whatever flavor)? Sure, but that’s not what I think the GOP establishment is most worried about.
