This is the first time I’ve heard of such a thing in all my 55 years. Amazing! But I’m sure you’re right, Dave. This is sure to be turned into an awful TV movie.
I just hope she gets a good agent and contract for it.
I do have a friend who was in a car crash not too long after she married her current husband (somewhere about 25 years ago), and who I was used to seeing in a motor cart. She couldn’t walk very far without incredible pain.
I think it was NYD 2001 or -02, when she walked into our house with no cart in sight. I was quite startled. She said that while she’d been at a world religion council in South Africa, suddenly something changed, and she could walk reasonable distances without pain. A year or so ago, she got a rather elaborate tattoo on her back, just below her waist as a statement that she wouldn’t have any back surgery in her life. Sometime in 2010, she had a nearly-burst appendix removed laparoscopically…and though the surgeons were careful, there was a break at one spot in the tattoo on her belly. She hadn’t any surgery-avoidance charm in mind when she got that one…
She’s the one who lent me her cart this February for a weekend conference. It was an interesting study in psychology for me. I didn’t believe her when she said I’d be invisible in it, but she was eerily correct.
