The new trailer for The Hobbit.
Wow.
So, a smaller, gentler film … in some ways. But it being from Peter Jackson, and with Gandalf as the bridge, plenty, plenty of ties to Lord of the Rings.
That said …
Galadriel?
Galadriel?
Oh, yeah …
And, I’ll note, out next year just in time to continue the old tradition of a LotR Christmas …
I think I may go see that on my 52nd birthday.
🙂
Galadriel, huh?
>_<
I’ll have to see the context of the Galadriel thing.
If Gandalf meets with her to talk about the Sorcerer, well… that actually happened at this point in the LotR timeline.
It’s almost certainly tied to the Sorcerer/Necromancer/Dol Guldur bits, which will have (as I vaguely understand it) more impact going forward.
It could also have to do with some consultation on that bit of treasure that Bilbo picks up down under the Misty Mountains. Esp. since both of them carry one of the Three.
(I actually don’t mind Galadriel being in there — my exclamation was more squeeful than scornful. It could be done too heavy-handed, but there’s plenty of room for stronger, more explicit ties between the events of “The Hobbit” and the later LotR saga. And since Jackson has the advantage of an audience that knows the LotRverse, he can draw on it in a way that Tolkien could not.)
