Mutie scum!

Heh. Marvel's lawyers (tongue in cheek? not where money is concerned) actually argue that because mutants aren't human, their imported action figures should be taxed based on the lower "toys" rate instead of the higher "dolls" rate. Fanboy hilarity ensues … #ddtb

This is a strange one. While fictional characters in the Marvel Universe — the heroes at least — typically argue a position that says mutants and humans

  1. Can you imagine the opening arguments for that case?

Ladies and gentlemen of the jury…we're here to prove, beyond a shadow of a doubt, that Wolverine is, in no way…a human being.

I'm sure there could also be an argument against lawyers actually being human too…but, that's a case for another time, I guess.

If it were me, I'd send in the Sentinels!!

  2. Well, they did interview Bryan Singer and include some audio footage from Sen. Robert Kelly's speech for the Mutant Registration Act.

The arguments made are described in more detail in the RadioLabs piece, which is about 15 minutes long (after you skip the 3 min. commercial at the front).

What's less amusing is the precedent set that you gotta know someone will raise in some "what is human" court case in the future.

  3. So this means that Superman and Batman action figures would be treated differently? What about a “World’s Finest” 2-pack containing both figures?
