Go Joe! Trader Joe's is coming to Denver

Well, Boulder, actually (shakes fist), but I trust others will follow … #ddtb

Reshared post from +The Denver Post

Is Trader Joe's finally coming to Colorado? Public records indicate the possibility is very real. Would you forsake all others to shop at Trader Joe's? How far would you drive?

  1. We’re still trying to figure out were it would fit at 29th Street Mall. There are area’s around the mall that are both empty and big enough.

  2. According to the Denver Business Journal (http://www.bizjournals.com/denver/news/2012/01/18/trader-joes-coming-to-colorado.html) TJ's has signed deals for three locations in Colorado, so presumably we'll have something more in the metro area (at a guess — Downtown / Cherry Creek and Tech Center / Park Meadows areas).

As has been pointed out by a number of people, one regrettable area in all of this is the crazy no-multiple-liquor-licenses restriction in Colorado laws. Which means only a single TJ's will be able to have a wine shop in it. Feh.

  3. We have one here in Ann Arbor that we drop by from time to time. We like it, but it's not a great general purpose super market. We still do the bulk of our shopping at the local Kroger's or Meijer depending on what we're shopping for.

    1. @BD: Interesting. I’m surprised nothing more central. Parker is waaaaaay south-east (though growing — good strategically). HR covers, of course, a multitude of areas — hopefully none too far away.

But no Cherry Creek or Downtown love? Well, maybe for Phase 2.
