Texts of DOOOOM!

An odd study that doesn't quite come out and say that people are "stealing" from mobile carriers by using social networking / IM systems for messaging rather than SMS text … but that notes that mobile systems aren't getting as much money as they might all those people using Google Chat or other IM system were texting instead.

Um … so? It's just going into the data charges (at the appropriately trivial actual expense) rather than into the texting charges (which can cost exorbitant amounts).

That's not a "challenge," it's reality. #ddtb

Texting for free being targeted

It concluded that mobile operators must "work together to face the challenge from major internet players".

That's referring to us guys using Google+ to chat, Facebook, and all the other social apps to message for free using the internet vs the super expensive charges by the telecoms for text only messaging.

What do you think ?
