He has no heart!

On the one hand, from a very real and human and humane standpoint, I wish VP Cheney the best, long life and health, and I marvel at the science that has led to his being able to survive such an event. Remarkable.

And I confess that when I saw another headline that said, "Cheney receives new heart" that a dozen more-than-a-bit snarky political comments immediately came to mind. #ddtb

  1. Sorry, but I know my future self won't be grief-stricken to hear of his eventual demise. So it's hard for my present self to have kind thoughts about his medical troubles. The man did real harm to a lot of people's lives.

  2. The headline did indeed beg the question, to many, of “how do you transplant a heart to a place where none was in evidence”, or as Kurt put it, Don’t you have to have a heart first in order to do a transplant?

  3. I’m frankly disgusted that someone his age, with his portfolio of maladies was able to get a priority transplant . . .. wealth and influence on direct display.

    1. @Arty – Though I do not know the details, from what I have read, he’s actually been waiting for several years (thus some of the interim implants he’s received). Though he is older than the average recipient, none of the non-political analysts I read seemed to think it was quite beyond the Pale.
