Norman Maclean's A River Runs Through It and Other Stories was initially accepted by Knopf, then eventually rejected by them — and went on to be a success through U. of Chicago Press.

Some years later, a Knopf editor expressed interest in Maclean's next book. The author's response back is … wonderful. #ddtb
