Kindle Fire's a big win for the Android world – and a possible problem
The problem being that Amazon's Kindle Fire is (a) the most popular Android tablet out there, and (b) largely out of anyone's control but Amazon. Which includes Google, the source of Android. The Fire users a special version of the Android OS — one apparently deeply modified by Amazon — and can't be easily updated or made compatible for applications written for the latest Android version. Ultimately, Amazon will have to do something about that — but whether that means joining the club again, crafting its own update, or something completely different is still open to question.
Of course, the plus side to this is that more companies (possibly even Google itself) are putting out low-cost Android tablets, or have them on the drawing board. So competition for the Fire, which is a good thing.

Statistics from comScore show that the Kindle FIre is now the most popular Android tablet. The arrival of low-cost tablets with Ice Cream Sandwich could challenge that position later this year.
