I've been Ice Cream Sandwiched

The Android update appeared for installation during my commute in this morning, which was convenient.  I haven't had a chance to go through all the features and changes yet, but the below article seems to have a decent (if not wildly positive) summary.

The Android Ice Cream Sandwich update has some interesting and useful features and some changes that left me wondering why they made them.

  1. ICS finally installed on my Lenovo tablet, and I have lost quite a bit of functionality as a result. The Picasa photo albums that just worked before are gone, and my Outlook stopped working. Now I have to spend an hour or more to figure out how to fix them.

On the upside the unlock feature is much more reliable, and it hasn't rebooted itself in the afternoon yet.

  2. The battery life issue could be an app that isn't all-on with ICS. Battery life seems about the same on my tablet. Which is to say; iPad owners point at me and laugh and kick sand in my face.

  3. Oh I'd take it if I can get it just because I'm one of those idiots who prefers to stay up to date regardless of whether it's a benefit or not, but I don't have the option so it's a moot point.

    1. Which is odd, because one of the usual delays for upgrades in the Android world is ensuring compatability with the shell each hardware manufacturer insists on putting onto the phone (for reasons that escape me).
