There doesn't seem to be a coherent reason, per se, why Jews and Muslims (or Jews and Christians, or Christians and Muslims) cannot get along together. Indeed, given that all three of those faiths have had pretty nasty internal struggles, it seems that the problem comes when religion serves as a proxy for tribalism, a way (or an excuse) to distinguish between Us and Them. And Them, as we well know, can never coexist with Us.
