The advantage to the GOP from setting up a parallel world of "news information", is you can give a speech saying whatever you think will motivate said base, and the base will never hear about the parts that are wrong, exaggerated, cherry-picked, or intentionally deceptive — and, then next thing you know, said statements are taken as axiomatic points that can just be mentioned by reference in Internet comments.
Romney has been taking advantage of this all through the campaign so far, called out over and over again for simply saying stuff that isn't true. It hasn't slowed him down any.
