Hmm.
On the one hand, Millar can be creative. Even edgy. He has cinematic experience. While I don't know that he's dome all that much with either the X-franchise or the Fantastic Four with Marvel, he's got strong comic book writing chops.
On the other hand, he's sometimes too self-consciously edgy for his own good, and occasionally comes across as a poor man's Garth Ennis. He did a decent job on The Authority after Warren Ellis left, but in a much mroe straightforward fashion.
Looking at the role — creative consultant — it's not clear how much this really parallels Whedon's role with Disney/Marvel's movies (given Whedon also has some writing and directing involvement, too). But I think, at a minimum, it's a positive sign that Fox is bringing in some decent comic book talent to try to unify and amplify the comic book vision of their currently held Marvel franchises. And I'm betting we'll see some cross-over, too.
