I really keep meaning to circle back around to watching B5 again, one of the most epic (and groundbreaking) SF shows of all time.
Alas, it's probably time to get rid of the crate of videotapes I lovingly made of each episode as it came out (except for the one I missed which a fellow fan in Hawaii sent me a dupe of). As fascinating as the show are the commercials recorded on those VHS tapes, including a few years worth of O.J. Simpson case news blurbs.

When I first moved to Florida, my first friend at my new job kept insisting that I start watching B5. I gave an episode at about the mid-point of season 1 a look (the boxing one) and went “meh.” After much nagging and forcible loaning of VHS tapes from the start of the season, I began at the beginning and long before I got to one of the best episodes of any TV SciFi ever (“Believers”), I was hooked.
I spent so much time at “A Lurker’s Guide to Babylon 5” http://www.midwinter.com/lurk/ it’s not even funny.
Ah. The inevitable “Let me show you an episode from the greatest TV show of all time which turns out to be one of the real turds of the entire series run” syndrome. I know it all too well.
Yeah, the Lurker’s Guide was awesome. Is awesome, in fact.
