Though you notice that nobody seems to wax nostalgic over Wonder Bread. And, for that matter, it's been years since I ate (and gagged at) any of Hostess' signature products — Twinkies, Ho-Hos, Cupcakes. There are simply too many better, and better for you, products out there. And that's what people are buying.
Which is one of the real reasons Hostess is in so much trouble. That, and carrying gobs-full of debt from the previous bankruptcy reorganization that turned shrinking profits into net losses.
I do hope the court-ordered mediation helps, but, honestly, without a business plan that satisfies the investors, shows the company actually getting back to profitability, and can actually provide wages that will keep workers, I don't see it happening.
