I love the LotR movies with a great passion, but, as in the book, the prolonged Passion of the Frodo begins to wear after a while.
That said, this bit of movie trivia — how some make-up and costume tests were done to support a vision of Faramir's as to what a Ring-bound Frodo would turn into, a la proto-Gollum, is kind of cool. And given the visceral suffering by Elijah Wood's character, and the end-point of Smeagol, it's quite plausible.
Probably just as well it was one more thing that even the Extended Versions didn't include, but it's still a bit of fun.

What Frodo would have looked like as Gollum
In the original script for The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers, the ginger-haired Faramir has a vision of Frodo’s future, should the ring take hold of Frodo’s soul.
