Per the article, the modern factory farm is unsustainable faced with more expensive energy and less available water. Though most of the predictions of what comes next sounds a lot like what came before, they also sound plausible for all that.
And … that's probably okay. I mean, nobody likes beef, pork, lamb, and poultry more than I do, but I could probably afford to eat (quite a bit) less of it, treat it as something a bit more special. Humanity seemed to get by that way for most of its existence, and so can I.
