Anderson's work thrilled me as a kid — from Fireball XL-5 and Stingray through the definitive puppet show, Thunderbirds (ARE GO!) And, of course, both UFO and Space: 1999 were themselves SF touchstones for me.

Gosh, but I loved those Eagles. (And their martial brethren, the Hawks).
Actually, the Eagles had an interesting workhorse design cousin in Thunderbird 2, now that I think of it. A lot of similarities there.
