One of the GOP’s goals since Zombie Saint Ronnie of the Ray-Gun was President is to shrink the government until it is small enough to drown in the bathtub (the other is to roll the country back to the 1890’s, which is pretty much the same thing). And buying a gun to protect yourself is a perfectly reasonable solution if you are a Republican, since it is on you to protect yourself (and it is your own damn fault if you are not able to afford your own personal security detail), and if you are a poor person, then that is your own personal failing.
Yeah, silly me, I keep thinking of the GOP as the “law & order” party …
