Roger Ebert and the Mean Reviews

Ebert was famous (infamous in some circles) for being more forgiving of some mass entertainment films if he thought they were fun (as he put it in his review of The Mummy, "There is a little immaturity stuck away in the crannies of even the most judicious of us, and we should treasure it").  But he could also put out a verbal smackdown of the flicks he didn't like with a breathtaking awesomeness that, even if you disagreed with him in one instance or another, would always bring an admiring nod.
