Simulating (or not) Cities

It was very clear to me from the earliest days of my playing with SimCity (back in the black-and-white days) that it wasn't a very good simulator. Traffic (roads and rail) were both hardly realistic.

This article touches on something else that the ostensibly-more-accurate simulator of cities elides over: parking.
