Wow… they really "dolled up" those girls, in a very stereotypical way.
Seems the work of a single artist, hopefully either a fast learner or a passing acquaintance.

Yeah, I kind of figured. But I thought I would ask …
For me, Belle is always the girl in the blue and white frock, reading a book. The tarted-up sophisticate in the golden gowns just doesn’t do it for me.
My issue with this is that the best of the Disney ‘Princesses’ (I’d prefer heroines or female heroes) has both the strength to get the job done and the brains to get by in the ‘fancy’ situations.
Most women have to be able to participate fully in multiple situations – Merida can both fight the danger and negotiate the peace as would be necessary to rule a kingdom. That’s why I’d like to see all aspects of the Disney Heroines personas represented. Women and girls are multi-dimensional!

I think that is why I like Merida and Rapunzel (and to some extent Mulon) are my fave “princesses”, and why I dislike that to become a Disney “Princess” they have to throw out all the things that got them to their final status. In a way it always felt like “well now that you are a princess you have to be a thing that is put up on the self and be pretty”. Very much a 60’s Mad Men women are items or dolls and not actual people vibe.
If I got to wear the shiny pointed hat all of the Disney Princesses would be protrayed in the garb that made them strong and that the viewers came to know them in instead of ball gowns.
The Disney Prinxesses as they are currently portrayed make me think of the lies that Sansa Stark tells herself daily.
Agree with you both, @BD and @Mary. It really seems that, outside of watered-down direct-to-video sequels, there’s very little left of the princesses once they get their foofy gown and meet-and-greet lines.
Though, interestingly, Ariel usually shows up at M&Gs with tail. Belle does story-times at the parks in her frock
