Beware of unsolicited Microsoft Tech Support calls

The NSA might be monitoring your computer, but Microsoft will not be calling you if you're having problems. Even if they say they're from Microsoft and are speaking in authentic Indian accents.

(Margie got one of these calls last week, and hung up.  I got one a few days later and strung them along until I was able to search in parallel for this article.)

  1. I got the call. I said, “I don’t quite understand. You want to give me a computer? Really? A computer just for me? To solve all my problems? That would be super. I can’t afford a computer myself.” Eventually, the scammer hung up on me.
