Who Watches the Watchmen? (Financial Regulation Edition)

Well, given the revolving door of once-and-future financial institution execs in the upper ranks of treasury / finance / regulatory groups in government, and the dearth of any meaningful punishment of those institutions that commit egregious crimes against the nation's economy, it's hardly a wonder that the folks in the middle are untrusting of their bosses and afraid of being cut off at the knees if they point out inconvenient problems.  This has been a perennial problem, across both Republican and Democratic administrations.

WASHINGTON — Regulators overseeing the nation’s largest financial institutions are distrustful of their bosses, afraid to speak out, and feeling isolated, according to a confidential survey this year of Federal Reserve employees.

The findings from the April survey of roughly 400 employees, presented to Fed staff during multiple meetings in June and July and obtained by The Huffington Post, show a workforce that is demoralized, and an institution where teamwork is nonexistent, innovation and creativity are discouraged and employees feel underutilized.
