I have no doubt, by the way, that the GOP was love to re-fund the Federal Government, one tiny piece at a time. That takes the pressure off of them from the public for what they've done, that lets them leave out all sorts of programs and departments and activities and furloughed employees they don't like but don't have the legislative power to actually get rid of on their own, and it let's them pretend to be the "reasonable" ones — "See? We've released a few hostages. Now start paying …"
And, finally, viz national parks — yeah, it's been easy for the Republican Congresscritters, the Fox News Talking Heads, and the various Conservative Punditry to pooh-pooh the impact of just that one little piece of government shutdown. "Oh, boo-hoo, someone didn't get to take a vacation." Yeah, boo-hoo to the people who actually work in those parks, too. Or the people who own businesses — hotels, restaurants, tours, etc. — that depend on those vacationers (as we can see right now in Colorado's own Estes Park, already struggling from the flooding a few weeks back).
Nice call out by Rep. DeFazio to hunters as well. Wonder if they'll be writing a few angry letters to their favorite GOP House reps.

Oh… my… god… This rant by DeFazio is frggin' incredible. I am still laughing. The best part? Half the house applauded and hooted when he was done. It is only a minute and a half, but he still managed to grind them to a pulp.
I have never seen a Representative go off like this. He was yelling at the Republicans so hard he face started to get red.
This definitely goes in my favorites! w00t!
