We (almost) did it! Fir the F.A.A. said no to gadgets on planes, now they're going to say yes. How'd we get here from there.
Disruptions: As Society Changes, a Brighter Future for Devices on Planes
Last week, a panel recommended that the F.A.A. change its rule, allowing passengers to use their electronic devices from gate to gate, including takeoff, taxiing and landing.
I support cautiousness with regard to flying of course, but it's pretty clear that 10 year's later there's never been a story that I can recall where they caused an issue.
The interesting part is the panel name, "science". I suppose if all electronic devices were allowed no one would pay attention at the beginning and end of flights. But besides this point there seems to be no credible reason.
