An interesting comparison between Serenity and The Avengers. I'll be honest in saying that the former struck me more as a "I'm going to tell this story come hell or high water" and was a movie that was, perforce, less than the sum of its glorious parts (speaking as a "Firefly" fan).
But I'll agree that some of the narrative techniques that Joss used in the earlier film were re-used in the latter, to better effect.
