WSJ: Obamacare isn't driving part-time employment

Well, WSJ editorials are still claiming it does. But their own examination of labor statistics argues it's not.

  1. But if employers don't want to pay more than a certain amount, then clearly that's the right, proper, and moral amount people should be paid, and any disagreement with that is illogical, un-American, and makes Baby Jesus cry.

  2. I just wish the CEOs who take this attitude would look at all the big corporations that provide health care and paid maternity/family leave and all those other benefits, and then say, "If they can do it, we can do it!"

And while I'm at it, I also wish I had my own Batmobile.

  3. Given the amount of stress caused by the US work week… if we can finish fixing up our health care system so that people aren't reliant on their jobs for that, then shifting to an all "part-time" worker economy would be fantastic.  Prices would have to adjust a bit to keep enabling our consumer culture, but people might actually have time to do things like pay attention to their kids.  …I wouldn't mind a Batmobile, either, come to think of it.
