What You Don't Know Can't Hurt You (Security Edition)

'You can't have your privacy violated if you don't know your privacy is violated.'

So says the Chairman of the House Intelligence Committee, Mike Rogers.  You may laugh (I certainly did), but that's not all that different from court rulings about "standing" — SCOTUS has repeatedly thrown out suits against security and surveillance programs because the folks suing couldn't prove that they were, themselves, surveilled.

So, huzzah! The NSA is reading someone's email, but if you don't know it's yours, don't worry your pretty head about it!  And if you happen to have photos of Rep. Rogers making nookie with his wife (or someone else), go ahead and send them around — I'm sure he won't care unless he finds out about it.

  1. Laugh? More like facepalm or pound head on table.  Let's get some pictures of this guy naked and post them on the Internet so we can laugh at how his privacy wasn't invaded because he didn't know about it.

    Bogus ingenuousness or abysmal doltishness? The world may never know.
