Think of the (unvaccinated) children

This seems like a perfectly reasonable policy. Not only does it protect the unvaccinated students involved from catching the disease themselves, it protects the others they might pass it on to (esp. since vaccinations are not 100% effective).

The crazy part is that the schools are effectively doing these kids a favor by making them stay home when there's a possibility they could be exposed to a serious illness.
