RIP, Bob Hastings

Bob Hastings was a face that nobody who watched TV in the 60s and 70s could fail to recognize (check out his CV at http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0368561/).  But I had no idea that he was the long-time voice of Commissioner Gordon in "Batman: The Animated Series" and subsequent video renditions.  He did a great in the role.  Thank you, sir.

  1. Aw, no. His was the first voice I learned to recognize on the X Minus One radio show from the 50s. And hearing him as Archie Andrews on that 40s radio show was a hoot. I knew right away that he was the voice of Gordon. Not to mention Superboy in the 60s.

One night I was listening to a radio show he was in and I suddenly got an image of him in my mind. I struggled mightily to figure out where I had seen him. It finally came to me that he was Lt. Carpenter on McHale's Navy! It was nice to have a face to go with the voice.

I just checked his IMDB listing. It's enormous! And it doesn't even include his radio work.
