Because, after 8 separate bodies have investigated the Benghazi tragedy, including the House Intelligence Committee, the Senate Intelligence Committee, the independent State Department Accountability Review Board, the Senate Armed Services Committee, the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee, the House Armed Services Committee, the House Committee on Oversight & Government Reform, and the House Committee on Foreign Affairs — all of whom have found a serious lack of smoking guns regarding the Big Scandal Stuff that Fox News keeps telling us is behind the Benghazi attacks — what the GOP House has decided we really need is …
… another investigative committee!

Yet another setback for Benghazi conspiracy theorists
The Republican-led House Intelligence Committee has reportedly reached the same non-scandalous conclusions as everyone else.

Last I checked the GOP website, I couldn't even find the small government claim any more. Neo-conservatism wins.
Although they are promoting Bush 41 socks.
Most people identifying as "Conservative" know the GOP isn't about small government. They're in it just as deep as their Democrat counterparts as long as they can hold onto power.
Besides, I didn't think Benghazi was about fault at the embassy, but the ensuing cover up by Obama and Clinton?
+Mark Means Well, I hope they realize it. It's still a mantra among the GOP congresscritters, though.
The Benghazi accusations have been all over the map (so to speak) but the biggies I've heard have focused on:
– Was the mission there under-protected (intentionally or not)?
– Was the mission involved in covert arms transfers t the Libyans or Libyan groups?
– When the attacks occurred, was the military restrained from responding?
– Were Administration officials lying (for some reason) about the cause of the attacks during the first few days afterward.
– Has the Administration been covering the above malfeasance up?
– Can all of this get hung on Clinton (to derail her potential candidacy in 2016) and Obama (as grounds for impeachment)?
(The last usually isn't mentioned out loud, mind you.)
The results from the GOP-led House Intelligence Committee appear to be (per http://www.sfgate.com/politics/article/House-panel-No-administration-wrongdoing-in-5663509.php?cmpid=twitter%20):
— Intelligence agencies were "warned about an increased threat environment, but did not have specific tactical warning of an attack before it happened."
— "A mixed group of individuals, including those associated with al Qaeda, (Moammar) Khadafy loyalists and other Libyan militias, participated in the attack."
— "There was no 'stand-down order' given to American personnel attempting to offer assistance that evening, no illegal activity or illegal arms transfers occurring by U.S. personnel in Benghazi, and no American was left behind."
— The administration's process for developing "talking points" was "flawed, but the talking points reflected the conflicting intelligence assessments in the days immediately following the crisis."
(Meanwhile, crickets chip over on FOX News about this report.)
The report doesn't seem address the "cover-up" portion of the accusations, but if there were no particular crimes or gross negligence, there seems little reason for there to have been such a cover-up.
