So getting up at 6pm to labor out in the hot sun from 7-2 is not my idea of a fun Saturday — but since Kay was in her first marching band event of her high school career (and we had to get up and drive her down to the high school anyway), Margie and I “chaperoned” — which, essentially, means acted as road crew for the band (with another half dozen parent). The Littleton Western Welcome Week Parade is apparently a Big Thing, based on the number of participants — it actually ran for almost an hour and a half, and stretched on Littleton Blvd from Gallup all the way down to Santa Fe and Arapahoe Community College. They supposedly get like 8,000 people watching, and, having walked it now (pulling a big wagon full of water coolers and bottles), I can believe it.
It was long, and hot, but a lot of fun.
Congrats! Have fun!
Yea! Band uniforms were not designed for summer.
Oh these pictures brought back wonderful memories. Your daughter will cherish the memories she is making for her life. And good for you being the parent to get involved!
Yay I was in this parade!! and band…yay AHS Warrior band!! Our band is awesome!!!
Night-time parade was it? 😉
I totally agree with David Hallum’s comment. I have these memories from both John, the son, and Sean, the grandson. Looking good, K!
Yeah, these uniforms (wool!) were definitely not designed for summer comfort (hence the frequent watering).
On the other hand, when we start getting into football games in October, and some December events like the Parade of Lights …
