And another annoying Twitter move

So, five years after Twitpic applied for that name as a trademark, and as they've cleared the last hurdle for doing do… Twitter approaches them and says give it up or get cut off from our API?

That's what's known as a "dick move," Twitter. And that influences people wanting to use your service. And what's maddening is that it seems so unnecessary.

Twitpic is shutting down | Twitpic Blog

Twitpic will be shutting down September 25th. You will be able to export all your photos and videos. We’ll let everyone know when this feature is live in the next few days. This is an unexpected and hard announcement for us to make and we want to lay out what led us to this decision.

  1. I’m trying to remember the last time I used twitter to do anything but reply to someone’s direct message or @reply… or bounce a post there from Google+.

I don’t have conversations there. I don’t watch anyone or anything. When my wife shares something cool, I ask if she can please put it on G+, so I can actually do something useful with it, and reach the people I want to reach.

Hell, I post directly to Facebook more than Twitter, these days, and *hate* facebook.

I just don’t care about it anymore.

    1. @Doyce – I still have found it a good source of quick info (esp. from sources that simply don’t have a G+ site, which, since Google has never given it an inbound API save through mobile Share To means, means a lot of them), and it’s easier to tappity-tap out a quick Twitter status than a G+ message (to me, at least). And, yeah, I do have some conversations that way. I’d be irked to see that change, but …
