This has been a great year for apples in our neighborhood. Our regular tree has been bursting with fruit, and the volunteer closer to the sidewalk put out some flowers early days (though nothing came of them). Even the tree between the houses has been bearing.
I was out doing some long-overdue yardwork, including pruning some of the tree branches. In the process, we harvested these for conversion into pies or crumble or something else truly nummy.

While I was doing the yard work, a grandmother who lives in the neighborhood came by and asked if they could pick some apples. They took away two or three times as many as this — but yesterday an apple pie from them appeared at our door. Yum!
