Stewart will be leaving "The Daily Show" later this year (his contract is up in the fall), which marks a sea change in comedy news even greater than the departure of Stephen Colbert (I expect some heavy drinking amongst Comedy Channel executives for a while).
There will be plenty of time for accolades (and the inevitable brickbats) later, but I will certainly miss him.

First Colbert and now Stewart? Well shit. There won't be any decent news reporting left on TV at this rate!
Jon Stewart leaving ‘The Daily Show’ this year
Comedy Central confirmed the news on Tuesday night.
I wonder if I'll be able to stick with the show once he's gone. I couldn't watch the John Oliver episodes.
I enjoyed Oliver, and am enjoying his new show. That said, I'm not sure how ready I am for anyone likely to take over the reins.
On the plus side, at least the comedy shows aren't going anywhere. Fox News has a huge line-up; though I did hear The View is losing O'Donnell.
I really liked Oliver as the host, and I'm actually kind of sad he took a different gig so soon before this change.
Hopefully the next few months are enough to cement The Nightly Show, because I think having both shows change hosts in such quick succession is going to be rough and risks losing a lot of viewers.
+Brittany Constable Well, one question to ask is how long Oliver's contract is with HBO (and, second, if he were asked, would he be interested)?
