Oddly enough, I find I enjoy this movie more as time goes on.
A ★★★½ review of Shrek (2001)
Though the animation is getting a little long in the tooth, I keep finding myself enjoying this film more and more on rewatch. Even the annoying Eddie Murphy parts. The satirical humor’s still pretty good, and the foundational story of being able to love yourself as a path to being able to fully express love for others still works (and, yeah, I get kind of teary-eyed during the big transformation scene at the end, so shut up). Plus, y’know, some …
It's a good movie. I could have passed on Shrek 2.
I chuckled once during this movie (when the guy threatened to punch the magic mirror). The rest was completely uninteresting.
I wonder why I don't like so many movies that others find entertaining. Maybe I'm missing a gene or something.
+Scott Randel As Twain put it, "It is not best that we should all think alike; it is differences of opinion that make horse races."
+Dan Eastwood I think I've seen Shrek 2 once — stranded on the tarmac at O'Hare (and, yes, we were there long enough, during a thunder storm, to see the whole movie). My recollections aren't very favorable, but checking my blog I wrote "quite worth seeing," so my recollections are apparently not very reliable, unless the unspoken narrative is "… compared to reading the in-flight magazine again."
+Dan Eastwood On the other hand, I really liked Puss in Boots, so go figure.
