This is a test. This is only a test

We're getting a new help desk / service desk system, and, being apart of User Acceptance Testing (UAT), I've come to a conclusion. When it comes to entering made-up data in test cases, there are three types of testers.

1. Ones who put in test service tickets saying "Test case 4.03."
2. Ones who put in test service tickets saying "Email is having problems."
3. Ones who put in test service tickets saying "IT'S ON FIRE!"

I am proudly a member of that third category.

  1. Funny thing is, I have seen the "IT'S ON FIRE!" but they didn't want to go through the steps of putting in a ticket. They came over to the office to tell us. Desktop was smoking.

  2. I'd just as soon the average user wasn't running through the building with a flaming PC …

(Flipping off the power strip, though, would probably be a good idea and relatively safe.)
