We're getting a new help desk / service desk system, and, being apart of User Acceptance Testing (UAT), I've come to a conclusion. When it comes to entering made-up data in test cases, there are three types of testers.
1. Ones who put in test service tickets saying "Test case 4.03."
2. Ones who put in test service tickets saying "Email is having problems."
3. Ones who put in test service tickets saying "IT'S ON FIRE!"
I am proudly a member of that third category.
Looks an awful lot like a sensible version of Danny Alexander, don't you think?
Funny thing is, I have seen the "IT'S ON FIRE!" but they didn't want to go through the steps of putting in a ticket. They came over to the office to tell us. Desktop was smoking.

+Frank Arena Well, honestly, if someone's desktop was smoking, I'd rather a direct call or a dash to the support team rather than submitting a ticket. 🙂
Surely, just put the desktop outside the building?
I'd just as soon the average user wasn't running through the building with a flaming PC …
(Flipping off the power strip, though, would probably be a good idea and relatively safe.)
