Sex and Economic Class

No, poor women aren't more promiscuous. They don't have sex earlier, or sex more often, in or out of wedlock. The reason they have more babies is because they have worse access to, and worse utilization of, reliable birth control.

Actually, here was a very interesting statistic:

"Wealthier women who face unplanned pregnancies were also far more likely to have abortions. Thirty-two percent of those surveyed in the highest income bracket had an abortion in the past year, compared to 9 percent of poor pregnant women."

So, yeah, y'know all those anti-abortion folks claiming the "abortion industry" is all about eugenics and sterilizing the poor? Maybe they should take a look at the wealthiest Americans to set a pro-life example first. Though, of course, the wealthy have never had a problem getting abortions, even when it was illegal.

The sex lives of rich and poor women are remarkably similar — until it comes to birth control
Promiscuity doesn’t vary along class lines.
